Oops, I Did It Again!
As Mary Martin once said, “After sixty. it’s patch, patch, patch.” But I think I’ve taken that thought to a whole new level and that’s why I haven’t been blogging lately.
The proverbial black cat not only crossed my path but danced back and forth in front of me with a big grin on its face.
Two years ago, I fractured my wrist and had a shiny new titanium plate and pins surgically inserted into it. Trust me, it was not a lot of fun. Fast forward to February 2017, I broke my wrist again and even broke the titanium plate. Plus, I badly sprained my ankle. It was one of those days I should have stayed in bed.
It’s not like I was skydiving, zip lining or even skateboarding. No, I simply slipped while trying to put shoes away on a high shelf of my closet. So, hi-ho, hi-ho it’s back into surgery (and a brand new titanium plate) we go.
But, nothing keeps a girl from getting a blow dry. At least not me.As my buddy @etchedincolloquy on Instagram said, ”You have a Frankenstein foot and a Moses staff that could part the waves.” Right on!
I slowly started healing and no longer needed the Frankenstein boot. I traded it in for a new pair of New Balance running shoes, not that I was going to break any world record in the 100 yard dash. At least not yet.
After some serious physical therapy, I was ready to take on the world until…I discovered that I had three skin cancers on my face that required surgery.
How’s this for a Hollywood glamour shot?
In some ways nothing changes. As I wrote in one of my previous blogs, “I’ll Wear Red Lipstick.” I’m still looking for that perfect red lipstick that will divert your gaze from my wounds. I know it’s lurking out there. …… at Sephora, Neimans, Makeover Workshop, Bobbie Brown or even Shangri-la. I guess it’s a bit like searching for the Holy Grail of red lipsticks.
